Transit Program Driver- Position Disscription

Job Duties

Work Hours: Monday-Friday Full Time(8 Hours). No weekends required.

  • Driver’s primary responsibility is to safely transport clients on an on-demand basis. Driver may, if time permits, assist clients on & off the bus, and to front doors.

  • Enforce all established onboard policies and procedures.

  • Daily inspection of the vehicles. Complete pre-trip inspections: report an issues that need to be addressed to Dispatcher in a timely manner. Ensure pre-trip inspection reports are filled in and submitted daily.

  • Follow responsible, courteous, timely and safe driving procedures.

  • Assure all passengers are using correct safety equipment (Seatbelts and hold downs).

  • Assist passengers in the use of the wheelchair lift and ensure correct tie down procedures are used.

  • Ensure that the vehicle assigned to driver is clean and in working order. Clean and maintain vehicle as needed.

  • Ensure vehicle is properly fueled.

  • Ensure all correct signage (per Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) requirements) and paperwork is displayed on vehicle.

  • Monitor vehicle safety equipment and report any discrepancies or needs in a timely manner.

    Works under the scheduling of the dispatcher and supervision of the director. May be asked to assist with other duties as directed from time to time.

Knowledge:

Must be able to work independently.

Must have the ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others.

Must be capable of establishing an attitude of goodwill, friendliness and concern for the needs of others.

Job requires physical dexterity to enter and exit the van, operate the wheelchair lift, and assist clients with packages and equipment.

Must agree to pre-employment and random drug testing.

Must attend bi-annual safe driver training course.

Must be 25 years of age, hold a current valid driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.
